Quick start for reluctant engine?

I saw recently on TV a programme in which they were trying to start a rebuilt clic car engine. When it would not start something was sprayed from an aerosol can directly into the carburettor intake whereupon it started instantly. Does anyone know what the product was and where it can be obtained?
