Remington 700 SPS Varmint or SPS Tactical for 1000yd shooting capability?

I'm looking to get into the longer range shooting world and decided to pick up a new rifle. I have decided to pick a Remington Model 700 rifle chambered in .308, but I do not know whether I should get the SPS Tactical or SPS Varmint. I will learn as I go, but I want a gun that is capable of producing shots up to 1000yds. so that I may take the rifle's capabilities out of the equation and leave the results solely upon my skills as a shooter.
