Is there really a songbird that thinks it dies each time the sun goes down?

I heard a quote on a movie preview about a songbird that thinks it dies every time the sun goes down, and it's so overjoyed to find it's alive in the morning, that it sings its heart out. (That's my summary of the quote from memory). Anyway, I wondered where that saying comes from. I know we can't know what a bird is thinking... but IS there a bird that reacts in such a way that it came to be believed (or put into myth or something) that it thought it died each night? Just wondering. Thanks.
